-8 or so inches or so of ribbon "A" to cover alligator clip
-5 inches of 3/8 (or similar size) ribbon "B"

| A picture of the supplies you will need. |
The green striped ribbon is the "A" 6 and 5 inch ribbon. The teal is the "B" 5 & 4 inch ribbon. The dotted green is the body (about 2 inches). The 2 pieces of 1 inch thin ribbon is for the antenna. The 8 inch striped is for covering the alligator clip. |
| Take your 6 inch "A" ribbon and fold in half to slightly crease the center. Unfold and place on the table with pretty side face down.
This is so the back wings will have the design on the outside. Put hot glue slightly to the right of the center and attach the right end of the ribbon to the hot glue with the pretty side facing the hot glue (see the above pic). |
Place hot glue slightly to the left of the center and attach the left side so you have 2 wing shapes. Do this to the other 5 & 4 inch "A" and "B" ribbons. *note- on the "B" ribbons make sure you have the pretty side facing up because these will be the inside wings. |
| Hot glue the 6 inch "A" ribbon and the 5 inch "B" ribbon together by placing a bit of hot glue between the two. Do the same with the 5 inch "A" ribbon and 4 inch "B" ribbon. |
| You will end up with to top wings and bottom wings. |
| Place a line of glue along the edge of the top wing and sandwich the bottom wing and hold in place for a few seconds. You can SLIGHTLY overlap the bottom on the top if you feel more comfortable doing it that way. |
| Put a little hot glue on the inside center of upper wing and attach the antenna. |
| Take to body ribbon and fold in half width wise and cut at an upwards angle to create the bottom. Make sure you sear the edge with the lighter after you cut it. |
| Place the body with the pretty side down and place to small dots of hot glue and then you will slightly pinch the ribbon together to form a crease lengthwise down the center. |
| Attach the body to the wings by placing hot glue along the width of where you pinched it. So 2 small lines of hot glue one for the top wing and one for the bottom. I kind of scrunched it on purpose as I placed it on. (notice the slight hump in the center?) I also placed 2 tiny dots of hot glue to the top of the body to attach it. |
| Open the alligator clip and place hot glue on the inside, then place the 8 or so inch ribbon with the pretty side facing the inside. Place glue on the outside of the clip and wrap around the ribbon pressing firmly as you go. |
| Wrap the ribbon all the way around the clip. The above pic is how you do the back of the clip. Continue on to the bottom but keep in mind you will have to open the clip or you will glue it shut. |
| Cut a thin strip of the shelf liner and attach to the upper side of the clip. This will help the clip to stay in place with thinner hair.
P.S. your fingers get glue on them alot when you put the strip on..Lol. Place a good line of hot glue on the upper outside of the clip and attach the butterfly. |
